Official fee standards
According to the fee standards published on the official website, registering for one subject costs RMB 450, while registering for two or more subjects costs RMB 700.
Payment is made online at the time of registration. The payment methods accepted (such as VISA, MasterCard, WeChat, Alipay and others) are subject to what the registration page shows in real time.
Doing the math
- 1 subject: RMB 450
- 2 subjects: RMB 700, an average of RMB 350 per subject
- 3 subjects: RMB 700, an average of about RMB 233 per subject
- 4 subjects: RMB 700, an average of RMB 175 per subject
In other words, once you have registered for two subjects, adding further subjects costs nothing extra.
How to register to get the best value
First, list the subjects you must take according to your target university's requirements; Mathematics is compulsory for all candidates.
Candidates applying for the Chinese Government Scholarship undergraduate program must take both Mathematics and Professional Chinese, which already makes two subjects.
As long as you have registered for two subjects, you can add Physics and Chemistry if there is any chance you will need them — provided you have enough time to prepare.
The exam is held over two days: Professional Chinese and Mathematics on the first day, Physics and Chemistry on the second. If you register for four subjects, you will sit exams on two consecutive days.
When you do not get your money back
- The official website states that "for 2025, only cancellation is supported; transferring to another exam is not possible": you can apply to cancel before the admission ticket is issued, and applications are no longer accepted once the ticket has been generated; for 2026, refer to what the official website publishes
- If you do not have your admission ticket or a valid identity document on the exam day, you will be treated as absent and the fee will not be refunded
- If you are unable to take the exam because you did not complete the two pre-exam tests for the Home-based Test, the fee will not be refunded
- If the special exam arrangements you requested cannot be provided and you choose to cancel your registration, you will receive a full refund
